The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has announced the application dates for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college students seeking financial aid in 2025.
NSFAS is a government initiative designed to help South African students from low-income families access higher education. The scheme provides funding for tuition fees, accommodation, and living allowances.
It is important to note that a student should apply for the relevant academic cycle which they intend to enrol in.
NSFAS 2025 TVET College Application Dates
- Trimester 2 opens on 12 May 2025 and closes on 23 May 2025
- Semester 2 opens from 14 July 2025 and closes on 31 July 2025
- Trimester 3 opens on 8 September 2025 and closes on 19 September 2025
All NSFAS applications for 2025 must be submitted online through the myNSFAS portal. NSFAS will not accept walk-in applications for TVET colleges in 2025.
Unlike in previous academic years, NSFAS will not open the TVET Walk-in applications in 2025.
NSFAS said, "The method of application for all 2025 remaining cycles will remain the same, meaning the students will apply for themselves online through the NSFAS website".
New applicants should also be reminded to not only create a profile and consider themselves to have applied but should continue with the process of completing the application until the application is submitted.
Students are encouraged to apply during the relevant academic cycle to secure funding for their studies.
New applicants or students who have had a gap in funding intending to study funded programmes for the annual, semester 1 and trimester 1 academic cycles must apply during the current national NSFAS applications window.
Grade 12 learners can apply for NSFAS funding without submitting their matric results.
