The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (Nsfas) has warned students against paying for the submission of their funding applications. This comes after several students received emails requesting payment for the submission of their Nsfas applications.
“Applicants, please note that you do NOT pay for Nsfas applications, applying for Nsfas funding is FREE, please visit http://nsfas.org.za for factual information” declared Nsfas.
Students must create a myNsfas account before they can apply for funding. The myNsfas portal is used by students to access and manage important information related to Nsfas.
After they create their myNsfas accounts, students will be able to submit their Nsfas funding application as well as supporting documents as part of the application process.
Once students complete the Nsfas application process, their applications will be evaluated and they will be provided with a funding decision. This is referred to as a Nsfas Application Status.
This Nsfas application status informs applicants on the progress of their application and may provide them with instructions students need to take to secure funding.
Nsfas applications for the 2023 academic year opened on 28 September 2022 and will close on 31 January 2023. This gives students just three months left to submit their applications and secure funding for the 2023 academic year.
Nsfas bursaries will cover a student’s tuition costs , accommodation cost and provide them with a transport allowance, living allowance, learning material allowance and a personal care allowance.
