When Will I Get My NSFAS Results?

So, you've completed your application to have your higher education studies funded by NSFAS. Now, you're waiting to hear whether it has been successful or not. Here's what will happen and what you can do if your application was unsuccessful.

NSFAS has said that application results will be communicated to all applicants once NSFAS received confirmation from the Institution that an academic offer has been made to you. This will be communicated to you before the start of the academic year via SMS, email and through your myNSFAS account.

Will NSFAS Fund My Online Studies?

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme, better known as NSFAS, offers bursaries to South African students who plan to study at public universities and TVET colleges. They cover funding for registration, tuition and allowances.

You may be wondering if they fund students who pursue online studies.

The answer is yes they do but only if you're doing a full-time programme or university degree at a public university or TVET College.

How To Check Your NSFAS Balance

NSFAS-Funded students who qualify to receive allowances directly from NSFAS will receive cash funds in their NSFAS Wallets. If you have been wondering how you can check your balance in your NSFAS Wallet, keep reading to find out.

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) provides students with a NSFAS wallet which allows NSFAS-funded students at certain tertiary institutions, to withdraw cash or spend it at any merchant registered by NSFAS.

Allowance amounts are determined through consultation with institutions, communicated to NSFAS when you register.

Ways To Repay Your NSFAS Loans

Should you have been funded by NSFAS when it was in the form of a loan scheme and you're now looking to repay your loan, here are the ways in which you can do so. NSFAS provides funding for higher education studies to South African students.

All students who received a NSFAS loan before the president’s announcement of free education in December 2017 need to repay the loaned amount as per the signed loan agreement form. Should you have started funding with NSFAS in 2018 and thereafter, you have received a bursary and there's no need for you to pay NSFAS back.
